The 2014 Baftas: Tinie Tempah High Fives Prince William
The Baftas are always a star studded occasion and it’s not often that we are left without a talking point from the awards ceremony; a surprise winner, perhaps a terrible outfit but few of us would have expected to see our favourite UK rapper high 5 the future King of England.
Last night gave us all of the stars and a very similar narrative. Leonardo DiCaprio failed to win yet another award. After having been nominated for best actor for his role in The Wolf Of Wall Street he was beaten by Chiwetel Ejiofor with his brilliant performance in 12 Years A Slave. London born Ejiofor also beat off the likes of Christian Bale, Tom Hanks and Bruce Dern to claim the award. Leo can still have a positive memory to take away from the night once he sees Danny Bakers brilliantly executed photobomb.
Hollywood super couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie stole the fashion headlines wearing matching tuxedos and simultaneously proving that they are quite possibly the only couple in the world to be able to wear matching outfits and still look good. Brad Pitt was in a Valentino whilst Angelina wore a custom black Saint Laurent.
Meanwhile, Tinie Tempah in a Burberry tux calmly as you like busied himself by throwing a high fives at royalty.
Tinie Tempah opening the Baftas with Laura Mvula in a typically energetic performance of his single Heroes from new album Demonstration left the stage and gifted viewing audiences across the world, as well as the celebrities at the award show with some rather brilliant viewing.
We have to admit it was pretty brave of Tinie; how awkward would it have been if going for that high five he was left hanging? Writing this I can already imagine 16 year olds across the country dedicating a quick 16 bars to what would have been a very embarrassing moment. Fortunately that wasn’t the case and the Prince was gracious enough to provide us with a great if not somewhat awkward GIF.
If you missed the 2014 Bafta awards show not to worry you’ll be able to catch up on all of the action on BBC Iplayer.
Lets just hope that if Tinie is to meet the Queen sometime soon he doesn’t attempt to fist bump her, although that would most certainly be a story for the grandchildren.
