Liza Minnelli is planning to undergo knee-replacement surgery in the next week.

The legendary entertainer - whose album 'Liza's at the Palace' has been nominated in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category - has cancelled her plans to attend the Grammy Awards ceremony on January 31 because she will still be recovering from the operation in a New York hospital.

Her spokesman insisted the operation was not serious, but a routine procedure in women of her age.

He said: "Liza, who has been dancing on stage since she was a teenager, is 63. She is expected to make a full recovery."

The iconic performer recently claimed she is incredible shape, but admitted she is starting to feel the effects of aging.

When asked her secrets to keeping fit, she said: "Hard work and constant touring is a good start. When I am not touring and home in New York, I go to dance class every morning with my beloved Luigi at his dance studio. Between touring and Ron Lewis's tough rehearsals, I'm honed like a tennis player, even if time has slowed me just a tad."

Mel Gibson's new film has caused over 200 prisoners to be moved around Mexico.

The 54-year-old actor sparked protests over his plans to shoot scenes - believed to be for 'How I Spent My Summer Vacation', a movie he has written and stars in - at the Ignacio Allende prison in the eastern state of Veracruz, after 214 inmates had to be sent to at least four other detention centres in the country to accommodate the set.

The prisoners were escorted from the jail - which usually houses 1,000 convicts - by police and soldiers between midnight on Friday (08.01.10) until roughly 3am on Saturday morning (09.01.10).

Despite the early hours, the move resulted in furious scenes of protest from friends and relatives, who claimed they would have to travel further to make their regular visitations to their loved ones.

Those transported during the operation have been held on murder, robbery, drug trafficking, kidnapping and other serious charges.

In 'How I Spent My Summer Vacation', Mel portrays a career criminal caught in Mexico and placed in a tough prison, learning to survive after a nine-year-old boy offers him help.

The film is due for release in 2011.

Vince Vaughn has got married.

The 'Wedding Crashers' star tied the knot with fiancee Kyla Weber on Saturday (02.01.10) near his home city of Chicago in front of family and friends.

According to sources, the nuptials took place in an "opulent, historic house at Lake Forest Academy".

A wedding guest said: "They could not be happier."

Vince - who famously dated Jennifer Aniston following her divorce from Brad Pitt - proposed to real estate agent Kyla last Valentine's Day (14.02.09) after realising she was the one for him.

He said: "I figured this is not a ship to be missed because I will not forget this date. So Valentine's Day was the day that I asked her."

The 39-year-old funnyman met Kyla through a friend 18 months ago and he knew almost immediately he wanted them to spend the rest of their lives together.

He said: "She makes me laugh. She is wonderful. I'm just thrilled. It's the first time that I really want to have kids."

Rihanna is rumoured to be having a secret romance with Justin Timberlake.

The 'Russian Roulette' singer is said to have confided in pals about her "sexy little secret", revealing she has been getting closer to the 'Like I Love You' hitmaker since his relationship with Jessica Biel ran into trouble last year.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "She's getting close to Justin again and it's getting hot.

"Rihanna called a friend and said she had a sexy little secret to share. She started laughing and said, 'Don't trip, but I have hooked up with Justin'.

"She said it was really good, hot and wild and that they have some of the best make out sessions she's ever experienced."

However, despite her apparent liaisons with the 'Sexyback' singer, Rihanna - who worked with Justin on the track 'Rehab' for her album 'Good Girl Gone Bad' - is not said to be interested in a relationship.

The source added: "She's only out with the physical with him. And it looks like she got it."

Rihanna, 21, has previously played down rumours she has ever been romantically involved with Justin, 28, and last month she denied any romance between them.

She said: "No, that rumour about Justin is incorrect. We worked together on my album. It's not like we have the closest friendship. We just worked together one time."

Despite her denials, rumours have persisted, and the pair were said to have made a "conscious effort" to avoid each other at recent parties.

Meanwhile, Rihanna has promised to reveal all her most intimate secrets in an autobiography, entitled 'The Last Girl On Earth' - set for release in June.

Robbie Williams plans to get married on Valentine's Day (14.02.10).

The 'Bodies' singer only got engaged last week but is desperate to make Ayda Field - who he has been dating for around three years - his wife, and has earmarked the romantic day as a possible wedding date.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "Robbie doesn't want to have a long, drawn-out engagement. When he gets something in his head, there's no stopping him. He's asked all his friends and family to keep the entire week free leading up to February 14, so they can have a week-long celebration before Valentine's Day."

The 35-year-old star is hoping to whisk loved-ones over to Santa Barbara, California, for the ceremony and he has already looked around two prospective venues.

The nuptials are set to be a star-studded event, with his former Take That bandmates Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Mark Owen and Jason Orange and other celebrity pals set to attend.

The source added: "He has asked best friend Jonathan Wilkes to be best man and it's likely Take That will perform."

Sylvester Stallone broke his neck filming his new movie.

The actor suffered the serious injury while shooting a fight scene with former WWE wrestler Steve Austin for 'The Expendables', and had to have major surgery.

He said: "Man, it was seven guys, kicking each other's a*s, one guy tougher than the next. No joke, our stunt guys were begging for mercy.

"Actually, my fight with Stone Cold Steve Austin was so vicious that I ended up getting a hairline fracture in my neck. I'm not joking. I haven't told anyone this, but I had to have a very serious operation afterwards. I now have a metal plate in my neck."

This is not the first injury the 63-year-old star has suffered while making a movie.

While making 'Rocky IV' in 1985 a boxing scene with Dolph Lundgren - who also appears in 'The Expendables' - got so out of hand, Stallone almost died after being punched in the head and chest.

He explained to FHM magazine: "Dolph Lundgren and I always went for it. I gave him orders to try to knock me out while the cameras were rolling. At one point, he hit me so hard on the top of the head I felt my spine compress. He then hit me with an almighty uppercut.

"That night my chest and heart started to swell, and I had to be helicopter-ambulanced from my hotel to a nearby emergency room. I was told that Dolph had punched my rib cage into my chest, compressing my heart. If it had swollen any more, I would have died.

"After that, I was like, 'Dolph, it's only a movie, bro.' "

Stallone, Lundgren and Austin also star alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Jason Statham and Mickey Rourke in 'The Expendables' - about a crack military squad that is assembled to overthrow a South American dictator.

Rachel Weisz's three-year-old son is obsessed with breasts.

The Oscar-winning actress has revealed Henry - whose father is 'The Wrestler' director Darren Aronofsky - is fascinated with ladies' chests, but thinks her boobs are the best.

She said: "He's really into firemen - and women's breasts! He just talks about them all the time. It's very sweet, he thinks that I have the biggest breasts in the world. That's a son's idolatry of his mother, that I'm the biggest and the best."

The 'Lovely Bones' star also revealed she hopes Henry won't follow in her thespian footsteps, despite catching the acting bug after seeing her perform in 'A Streetcar Named Desire' on the London stage last year.

She told Esquire magazine: "His dad brought him in after a matinee to watch the curtain call and he figured out bowing and getting claps. So, yesterday, he put on his policeman's outfit and bowed. That was the show. I hope he's not an actor - I'd dissuade him as hard as I could."

The 39-year-old actress topped a poll conducted by the magazine to find the woman that men would most like to marry.

Rachel beat off stiff competition from Keira Knightley and Kate Winslet, who came second and third respectively, to take the title.

The 'Constantine' actress - who is engaged to Darren - said: "Oh my God! To marry? That's interesting. That's so funny. I'm marriable. But I'm not married. I was getting worried that the men didn't like me anymore."

Russell Brand has got engaged to Katy Perry.

The 34-year-old British comic star proposed to the American singer during a spiritual ceremony in India on New Year's Eve (31.12.09), and Katy, 25, gleefully accepted.

The engagement was confirmed to UsMagazine.com, with a source revealing the holiday was a surprise Christmas gift from Russell.

The source said: "She told him how much she loved Indian culture while they were eating curry in England, so he surprised her."

The couple were dressed in traditional Indian outfits for the ceremony to bless their relationship, which took place at the foot of a mountain in the city of Jaipur, just before midnight on New Year's Eve.

A source said: "They wanted to take part in a traditional ceremony and thought there was no better time than on New Year's Eve.

"The ceremony is usually used to bless new couples in the hope it might lead them toward marriage."

Russell is also said to have given the 'Hot n Cold' singer a large, square-cut diamond ring, set in a platinum band from upmarket jeweller Cartier.

He was spotted shopping for the ring in London three weeks ago, sparking speculation the couple - who have been dating since last September - were to get engaged.

Russell has told friends: "Katy's managed to tame me. This is it - I'm completely in love."

The pair are now said to have moved on to Thailand to celebrate their engagement.

Jay-Z wants to help Cheryl Cole become a success in the US.

The rapper-and-businessman - who owns music management company Roc Nation and is co-owner of Roc-A-Fella Records - has offered to assist the 'Fight for This Love' singer launch her solo career overseas after seeing how successful she has become in Britain.

He said: "I keep a close eye on the music industry throughout the world and I know how hot Cheryl is in the UK.

"The US marker is the toughest one to break into, but once you do it is by far the most lucrative. I think Cheryl has that talent to do it. There is nobody in the US like her right now and I would be very interested in helping her break the US market this year."

The 40-year-old musician was first tipped off about the 26-year-old Girls Aloud singer - who worked with Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am on her album '3 Words' - after his pop star wife Beyonce Knowles watched her sing live.

He explained: "Beyonce has seen her perform and she told me how impressed she was. I checked her out and I was impressed as well."

Russell Brand and Katy Perry are set to marry within months.

The couple - who have been dating since September and got engaged over New Year - have shocked friends by revealing their wedding plans are already well underway and have asked pals to keep dates free for the nuptials.

Russell, 34, has reportedly already asked his manager, Nik Linnen, to be his best man and told him to start preparing a speech.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Russell caught everyone off guard with the engagement. They've decided they won't be messing about and have already made plans for the big day."

Katy's strictly religious father Keith Hudson has also given former his blessing to the couple's wedding plans, saying he is "happy" with the news.

Further details of Russell's meticulously planned romantic proposal on New Year's Eve (31.01.10) in the Indian city of Jaipur - also known as the Pink City - have also been revealed.

First the comedian prepared by taking Katy, 25, to one of the city's ancient forts, where he bought her a £600 traditional Indian dress to wear, before they headed back to the luxurious Taj Rambagh palace hotel, where he had further surprises in store

As source at the hotel explained: "He had organised a special dining experience. We set a table in a garden with candles everywhere. They arrived in a horse and carriage with a glass of champagne and we served them dinner.

"At midnight they enjoyed fireworks while sitting on an elephant, which Mr. Brand specially requested. Then they were taken to the Mughal Garden - which was decorated by flowers and candlelight.

"Mr. Brand had given his butler the diamond ring to hide among the flowers. Miss Perry found it, he proposed, and she immediately said 'Yes'.

"After that they requested 45 minutes' privacy. They looked like they were beautifully in love."

The couple were in India for a Christmas holiday, a present from Russell to Katy, and they have since moved on to Thailand to celebrate their engagement.
