Jake Gyllenhaal was left broken hearted when Reese Witherspoon ended their relationship.

The 'Brokeback Mountain' actor was devastated when the Oscar-winning actress called time on their two-year romance as he was keen for the pair to get married.

A source said: "It broke his heart. She felt pressured to wed again but she wasn't ready. She couldn't give Jake enough and she got cold feet. Jake wanted all of her."

Reese - who has two children, Ava, 10, and six-year-old Deacon, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe - is also said to have had doubts over Jake's suitability as a stepfather.

A source told Us Weekly magazine: "She really worried that they didn't have enough in common. When she was giving all of her energy to Jake, she felt like she wasn't giving her kids enough. He was great with the kids, but she felt like he didn't get the whole scope of what that entailed."

The couple ended their relationship earlier this month, but insiders insist the split was amicable and nobody else was involved.

Kate Hudson's New Year's Eve (31.12.09) plans have been ruined following her split from Alex Rodriguez.

The 'Nine' actress and the New York Yankees baseball star - who ended their seven-month relationship earlier this month - had planned to see in 2010 by attending a host of parties in Miami, Florida.

However, Kate has now cancelled her involvement while Alex, nicknamed A-Rod, will probably still attend.

A source told Life and Style magazine: "They were both scheduled to appear together at several bashes. Obviously that's not happening now - she cancelled! She cancelled everything; she's not going to Miami at all. Alex is probably still going, and no doubt will be flirting up a storm - as he usually does."

Friends of Kate have also claimed she had trouble trusting Alex - who was two young daughters with ex-wife Cynthia - because of his womanising reputation.

One pal told MSNBC: "Kate has some trust issues with A-Rod. She doesn't know for sure if there is another woman, but there's a girl she thinks he has a crush on. She's been worrying about other women for a while and is definitely the jealous type."

It had been claimed Alex ended their relationship because he thought mother-of-one Kate was too much of an attention seeker.

Peaches Geldof luckily escaped serious injury after a "full on car crash" last night (16.12.09).

The socialite was driving to Disneyland in California with friends - who she calls the 'I Don't Give A F**K Crew (IDGAF)' - when the driver lost control of the car, causing it to spin 360 degrees on a freeway.

Just minutes before the accident, the 20-year-old star tweeted: "Speeding like I have never, ever witnessed before on the freeway... feel like I'm in a scary car chase video game."

This was quickly followed by: "Just actually experienced a full on car crash with the IDGAF crew. Wow, I guess we really don't GAF.

"Honestly can't believe we're alive after that. And the front of the car is totally f***ed up and yet we're still carrying on to Disney!?"

The female driver claimed the incident occurred when her foot "slipped" because she was so desperate to get them to the theme park promptly.

She told Peaches: "I was just trying to get us all to Disney on f***ing time! My creeper slipped on the pedals! It's not my fault!"

Despite joking with friends on twitter about the crash, the blonde starlet was seemingly shaken up by the incident.

She wrote: "My last memories if we had all died following the epic crash - reading the NME, then screaming, clinging... what a way to go..."

Another member of the group, A.J. English - who posted a photograph of the damaged vehicle on his twitter account - was shocked the group had escaped without injury.

He wrote: "This is all that happened after a full 360 across three lanes of freeway traffic!?"

Katie Price is back with Alex Reid.

The glamour model dumped Alex live on TV shortly after quitting UK reality show 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!', but has now reunited with the cage fighter

She said: "I don't care what anyone thinks - it's up to me who I go out with. We haven't announced we are back together. We're seeing how it goes."

The pair were spotted together backstage at the final of UK TV talent show 'The X Factor' - who is judged by Simon Cowell - although they were keen to not been pictured with each other.

A source added to Daily Mirror newspaper: "Ever since Katie returned from the jungle, Alex has been at her house to make her work things out with him.

"Dumping him on TV was such a humiliating thing but he has the hide of a rhino and Katie seems smitten with him.

"Taking him to 'The X Factor' for their first public date proves it."

Katie - whose ex-husband is Peter Andre - also flaunted a diamond ring on her engagement finger, but added: "I always wear this ring - it doesn't mean anything really."

Jude Law and Sienna Miller are moving in together.

The pair - who have rekindled their romance after splitting up in 2006 when the actor had an affair with his children's nanny - are so "in love" they are now looking to buy a new London pad early next year so they can be together all the time.

A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Last week they put the wheels in motion to live together again.

"They have told staff that they are in love and will be moving back to London in the spring and they will be living together as a couple once again."

The on/off couple grew close again recently when they both starred in separate Broadway shows in New York at the same time, Jude appearing in 'Hamlet' and 27-year-old Sienna in 'Miss Julie'.

The pair were recently spotted leaving the 36-year-old hunk's New York apartment together, sparking rumours of a reconciliation.

They first met on the set of 'Alfie' in 2004.

Despite their turbulent past, the blonde beauty has "convinced" Jude she still loves him.

The source added: "Jude was reluctant at first for anything to happen. But Sienna convinced him that she was still in love with him."

Ekaterina Ivanova has branded Ronnie Wood an "evil goblin".

The 20-year-old Russian waitress - whose turbulent relationship with the Rolling Stones rocker ended last week - has blasted the 62-year-old guitarist's immature behaviour and blamed his reliance on alcohol for wrecking their romance.

Ekaterina insists their 16-month relationship started to turn sour after they moved into a rented "fairytale" turreted castle.

She said: "The whole thing started off like a fairytale. Then it felt like an evil fairytale. When Ronnie and I moved into a tower my friends were laughing and saying I was like the princess trapped in the tower. I'd be trapped there with an evil goblin king.

"He was like a child with tantrums when he was drunk, throwing water bottles and doing impressions of my voice.

"It was like trying to keep a child under control. In the end I was so unimpressed by everything. I found it very fake."

Ekaterina insists she was the one who grew out of their relationship by the time they split, even though it was Ronnie - who was still married to his wife of 23 years, Jo, when he eloped to Ireland with Ekaterina in July 2008 - who called time on the romance.

She added to Hello! Magazine: "I grew out of him, I just thought, 'What's the point of being with an older man if he acts about 12?' I thought, 'What a pathetic person.'

"I felt dead inside. My friends said by the end I'd look like a zombie - really pale."

Leona Lewis believes in aliens.

The 'Bleeding Love' singer is concerned for the future of the planet and believes it will only be saved when occupied by other "life forms".

She told The Sun newspaper: "We've done so much damage I worry the world will have to end and start again.

"It will be the next people who occupy the planet who will learn from our mistakes. People are too selfish to stop the things that have caused global warming now.

"But the universe is too big for us to be the only life forms."

The vegetarian singer - who performs 'I See You', the theme song from new blockbuster science fiction movie 'Avatar' - hopes to meet an extra-terrestrial, especially if they are like the otherworldly Na'vi who appear in James Cameron's movie.

She added: "I hope aliens are like the Na'vi. I really like them.

"They care about the things I'm passionate about - nature, the planet, the environment.

"This song required a powerful performance so I had to find an emotional connection. I found one to them."

Leona is not the only star who believes in aliens.

Robbie Williams is fanatical about extra-terrestrials and regularly takes late night trips in the hope of spotting UFOs.

The 'Angels' hitmaker claims to have had three close encounters of the third kind over the years and believes in ghosts.

He said: "People will think I'm mental - which I am!"

Amanda Peet is pregnant with her second child.

The '2012' actress and her husband David Benioff already have a two-year-old daughter Frances Penn and will welcome the next addition to their family in the middle of next year.

Amanda - who married screenwriter David three years ago - has previously admitted motherhood was not what she expected.

She said: "One surprise of motherhood for me was how little control I have. I thought it would be an extended, blissful romance with me at the helm, cuddling this little creature to life. It's been bittersweet and humbling to let her lead, and to try not to be perfect myself."

Shortly after Frances' birth, Amanda, 37, revealed David wanted two more children but she was happy to stick with just having just one more.

Amanda - who recently signed up to make a guest appearance on hit US comedy 'How I Met Your Mother' - said: "He wants three but I'm old, I'm an old lady. Two is enough."

Katie Price's closet friends have urged her to dump Alex Reid for good.

The glamour model is believed to have reconciled with the cross-dressing cage fighter just weeks after dumping him on live TV but pals don't believe he is a strong enough character for her.

Friend Phil Turner said: "Katie needs a man around her, she is always telling us that. But Alex is not the one for her. She needs to find someone else.

"She doesn't care about being the bread winner - none of that matters to her. She just needs a real man to dominate her, to take control and stand up to her and look after her. She doesn't need a doormat."

Phil believes Katie only reconciled with Alex because she is finding life without ex-husband Peter - who she split from earlier this year - so difficult.

He added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Katie has really been through it this year. She loved Peter and this divorce has been so hard for her.

"Katie keeps changing her mind about Alex. She's lonely since splitting up with Pete and I can understand that. But I wish she would find someone else.

"Katie is one of my closest friends and I will always be here for her. Ultimately, I just want her to be happy."

Katie's closest friend singer Michelle Heaton has previously urged her to dump Alex.

She said: "Listen, you know how we all feel. You need to get rid of him. I've told you."

Sigourney Weaver was shocked when she saw herself as a blue alien in 'Avatar'.

The Hollywood actress - who plays a scientist called Grace Augustine in the groundbreaking science fiction movie - was surprised by how lifelike her 3-D alien self looked in the special effects-laden film.

Sigourney - who is most famous for her role as Ellen Ripley in the 'Alien' films - told BANG Showbiz: "I think every science fiction film is so unique, I'd never done performance capture and the whole world of 'Avatar' was so fascinating that I felt like I was experiencing it for the first time.

"I mean it was so shocking because I didn't know think it would look like me, Sigourney, and it was just very funny. I'm just so looking forward to seeing it again."

Sigourney - who was speaking at the world premiere of the film at the Odeon cinema in London's Leicester Square last night (10.12.09) - was very impressed by how well the CGI (computer-generated imagery) graphics) captured the cast's movements.

She said: "James kept saying to us, 'There are a lot of special effects, but it's all about the characters, it's all about the emotion of the story.' So we never felt overwhelmed."

Speaking on the special blue carpet, Stephen Lang - who plays Miles Quaritch in the movie - insisted he didn't need CGI to improve his muscles because he bulked up for the role.

He said: "I can say that there is a lot of computer enhancement in this film, but not on me. I swear to God!"
