Katy Perry's parents are urging Russell Brand to "go towards the light" and find God.

The pastor parents of the 'I Kissed A Girl' singer recently met the British comedian - a former heroin addict and alcoholic, as well as a notorious womaniser - for the first time, and said they are willing to accept him despite his past.

Katy's mother Mary Hudson said: "Russell must go towards the light and not toward the darkness. Only God can take the very worst person and turn them around for good."

The long-haired funnyman also swapped books with Katy's dad Keith, who gave him a copy of 'The Cry', his tome about helping people release the "desperate longing for God's intervention in your life".

Russell, 34, gave him a copy of his autobiography, 'My Booky Wook', which details his former life of drug binges and prostitutes.

Mary added to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "You just have to see how the Lord's will is done. I mean, how many times have your kids disappointed you so profoundly you wanted to get up from the chair and knock them out?

"There are parts of the Russell's book where he is hungry for positive influences in his life."

Keith added he felt Russell has a "spiritual hunger".

Katy, Russell and her parents are presently holidaying in the ski resort of Ischgl in Austria, where she played at the resort's opening concert.

At the concert she wore what she called her "sl**ty sexy Santa outfit" and dedicated a song to "all my ex-boyfriends" as Russell looked on from the concert's sound booth. The pair then took to the slopes yesterday (30.11.09).

Russell has said he has "never felt more settled and happy" than he is in his relationship with Katy.

Alec Baldwin will quit acting in 2012.

The 'Hunt For Red October' star plans to retire from the industry once his contract for hit US TV show '30 Rock' expires as he no longer has the passion for it.

The 51-year-old actor said: "I don't have any interest in acting anymore. I'm not young, but I have time to do something else."

Alec - who is set to co-host next year's Academy Awards with Steve Martin - also claims his movie career has been a flop because he hasn't been a huge box-office success.

Alec - who has starred in 'The Departed' and 'Glengarry Glen Ross' - told Men's Journal magazine: "I consider my entire movie career a complete failure. The goal of moviemaking is to star in a film where your performance drives the film, and the film is either a soaring critical or commercial success, and I never had that."

Alec recently revealed he isn't nervous about hosting the Academy Awards because he believes there are higher expectations on Steve, who has fronted the Oscars before.

He quipped: "It is all on Steve. Steve Martin has done this before, while for me it is the first time. All the pressure is on Steve Martin."

Will Ferrell wants to play Simon Cowell in a movie of his life.

The comedy filmmaker would "love" to portray the music mogul on big screen because he is convinced there are huge similarities between Simon and his fictional news reader character Ron Burgundy from the film 'Anchorman'.

He said: "I would love to play Simon Cowell in a movie. It would be my dream role. Simon's become a legend in five years. Nobody in the US knew who he was five years ago and now he is one of the most famous people on TV.

"It wouldn't be that hard for me to play him because I see a lot of Ron Burgundy in Simon Cowell."

In the 2004 box office hit, Will portrayed haphazard 70s newsreader Ron - who was known for his permanent tan, immaculately groomed hair and outrageous views.

The 42-year-old actor believes the similarities between the iconic character and Simon are uncanny.

He explained to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Like Simon, Ron was the biggest thing on TV, loved himself and had that whole irresistible middle-aged man thing going on. I could play Simon, but to be honest Simon could play Ron. They are like long-lost twin brothers separated at birth. Simon Cowell and Ron Burgundy are pretty much the same role, apart from Simon being ruder."

The comic is also keen to be made over like the 50-year-old 'X Factor' and 'American Idol' judge.

Will added: "It would be pretty fun getting into character as well. I would have to walk along the street and say, 'Hey, you're too fat to be a star,' or go to a concert and shout out to the artist, 'Never gonna happen.' I could also probably get whoever is making the movie to pay for me to get Simon teeth done. How great would it be - to have a smile like that? It literally shines when he opens his mouth. I would become irresistible."

Lindsay Lohan is "way into" John Mayer.

The 'Mean Girls' actress sparked speculation she wants a romantic relationship with the 'Gravity' singer - who has previously dated Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz and Jessica Simpson - after shunning former lover Samantha Ronson to try and spend time with the star at New York's Butter nightclub on Monday (30.12.09).

A source said: "She would follow his every move. He would dance with the waitresses and then come back. She was way into it.

"Sam and Lindsay were getting along great but as friends."

Lindsay and John were said to still be partying together at 3am, though it is unclear if they left together.

However, hours after arriving home, Lindsay sent John a message on social networking website Twitter, saying: "@johncmayer shhhhhhhhhhhhhh butter-face :). (sic)"

Although John failed to respond publicly to Lindsay's message, he revealed to his fans he is having women troubles as he is being pursued by several girls

He Tweeted: "I've got two women texting me they want to come over. What's that, Modern Warfare 2? You understand me? Done. Night, ladies!"

Sugababes singer Amelle Berrabah is dating a new man.

The 'Get Sexy' singer was reportedly so bowled over by racing car driver Alex Waters she dived across a London nightclub to introduce herself to him.

A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Amelle's really passionate about cars. She jumped over a table in a club to introduce herself to him after spotting him from across the room."

Amelle was last week spotted kissing Alex outside of trendy London club Whisky Mist, shortly after a performance in the UK capital by the Sugababes.

The couple were seen by clubbers chatting intimately as Alex rested his hand on Amelle's hip, although they later went home separately.

Amelle, 25, split from her last boyfriend, Freddie Fuller, in March after six years together.

The couple had a turbulent relationship, marred by a violent machete attack against Freddie on Christmas Eve 2007, which left him fighting for his life.

Earlier that year, there were also false allegations made that Freddie had raped Amelle's younger sister.

Amelle has previously admitted she was so hurt by Freddie it put her off dating.

She said: "Freddie broke my heart, but not in a love way. He's destroyed my faith in men.

"There were loads of incidents that no one knows about that made me realise it wasn't right. I also found out a lot of other stuff about Freddie towards the end.

"A good way of saying what happened is I felt betrayed."

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes will try for another baby in the New Year.

The couple - who celebrated their third anniversary last month - are said to have agreed the time is right to add to their family and give three-year-old daughter Suri a sibling.

A friend of the couple told America's OK! magazine: "She no longer feels like she's just Mrs. Cruise. She's her own person again. She and Tom have their disagreements, but deep down they love each other very much. That's what is important."

Tom, 47, and 30-year-old Katie - who met in April 2005 - have been contemplating having another baby for some time.

It had been reported Katie - who recently finished shooting 'The Extra Man Mary' and 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark' - wanted to star in another box office hit before she expanded her family.

A source said: "Katie had to put movies on hold after Suri."

Katie's last film 'Mad Money' failed to impress at the box office when it was released in 2008. The crime comedy, also starring Queen Latifah and Diane Keaton, only managed to match its estimated $22 million budget when its cinema run ended.

Jay-Z will perform at next year's BRIT Awards.

The 'Empire State of Mind' rapper has been signed up to star at the 2010 ceremony where he will perform a medley of his biggest hits and a duet with a surprise artist - believed to be his wife Beyonce Knowles, Alicia Keys or Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Jay-Z is confirmed as one of the key performers. In weak years there have been problems securing the big international artists. But knowing Jay-Z was there will help to secure other big acts."

It has already been revealed 'Bodies' star Robbie Williams will close the awards show after being receiving Outstanding Contribution To Music prize, for his work with Take That and as a solo star.

Robbie has already won more BRITs than any other artist and will be presented his 16th honour at the event which takes place at London's Earls Court Exhibition Centre on February 16 2010.

British comedian Peter Kay has also been signed up to host the ceremony.

Katie Price dumped Alex Reid live on TV last night (23.11.09).

The glamour model admitted her stint on British reality TV show 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' had made her reconsider her future and realise she wanted to be alone.

She told presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly said: "Being in the jungle has made me think. Alex? Well that's another thing. I have done a lot of reflection. It's best on my own. I realised I want to be on my own. I don't want a relationship. As soon as I came out I decided I am not with him.

"People will think it's harsh. But a lot of things have happened."

After quitting the camp, the first person Katie saw was close friend Michelle Heaton - a panellist on spin-off show 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here Now!' - who gave her pal a brief update on what she had missed.

Michelle said: "Alex was supposed to be coming over to propose to you. We think live on TV. Listen you know how we all feel. You need to get rid of him. I've told you."

Stunned Katie - who had supported Alex after revelations about his fetish for cross-dressing surfaced - said: "I tell you what. If he's done stories, that is it. Well, before I see him, I need to see everything."

Katie - who first entered the show in 2004, where she met now ex-husband Peter Andre - also admitted that one of her reasons was for quitting was the "torture" of so many memories coming back to her.

She explained: "The whole place reminded me of Pete from the moment I woke up, the afternoon to the moment I went to sleep, every second it was Pete, Pete, Pete.

"I was having closure but some of the reminders, it was cruel to do it to myself so I just didn't want to stay there.

"I have no regrets it's the best thing I have done in the last seven months it was a test to see how emotionally strong I was."

Amy Winehouse's father is making Blake Fielder-Civil sign a pre-nuptial agreement before they remarry.

Mitch Winehouse is insisting ex-convict Blake - whose divorce from the 'Rehab' singer was finalised at the end of August - signs the agreement to prove he is not after his daughter's money when they tie the knot for the second time.

Mitch said: "Blake won't get a single penny."

A friend explained further: "Mitch has seen a solicitor. He is doing everything he can to protect his daughter. He thinks Blake brings nothing but heartache."

'Back to Black' singer Amy is said to have recently asked Blake, who has previously been accused of leading Amy into drug addiction, to remarry her and they have both changed their status on their profiles on website Facebook to married.

Meanwhile, Amy - who recently had a breast enlargement operation - has splashed out on a range of racy underwear and a diamante encrusted whip at a London shop last weekend, to celebrate getting engaged again.

A source said: "Amy loves showing off her new boobs and wanted to get sexy underwear to make the most of them. And she couldn't resist getting a few other bits and pieces like the whip."

Amy, 26, has reportedly told Blake she is planning to wear her engagement ring again and wants a wedding to take place in the next three months.

Blake, 31, told a friend: "We both know we've only ever been divorced on paper. This is the right thing to do. This is the real deal. She told me she wanted to get married again. I feel so happy."

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie donated $6.8 million to charity last year.

It has been revealed the Hollywood couple - who raise six children together - gave away the giant sum of cash to several different charities last year after raising the money through their Jolie-Pitt Foundation.

According to The Hollywood Reporter - which has received a copy of the 2008 tax return for the charity - the Jolie-Pitt Foundation banked $13 million in 2008 and over half was given back to good causes.

The Global Health Council, an organisation which aims to reduce disease and death globally, received $2 million from the couple.

Brad's Make It Right Foundation and the Human Rights Watch were each granted $1 million from the celebrity pair.

The rest of the money was split between The Armed Services YMCA of the US Army, who were given $500,000, schools in Brad Pitt's hometown in Springfield, Missouri, which received $50,000, and around $1 million went towards projects in Cambodia, where their eight-year-old adopted son Maddox is from.

Last year, Brad and Angelina sold the rights for the first images of their twins, Knox and Vivienne - who were born on July 12 2008 - for several million dollars. This money is believed to have been donated to the Jolie-Pitt Foundation - which they formed in 2006 to aid global humanitarian causes.

They also raise five-year-old son Pax and daughters Zahara, four and three-year-old Shiloh.
